I am a mom after all and as such I find myself doing laundry on occasion. Ok a lot. All the time. I guess my washer and dryer are always occupied, lets just put it that way. Muddy laundry, bloody camo laundry and kid laundry (the horror). Laundry soap is expensive these days along with everything else besides gas I suppose. A few years ago I stumbled across a treasure recipe that puts a few of those hard earned bucks back in our pockets every week. I like liquid detergent and when I saw that I could make my own and have it cost me only about 5 bucks for 10 gallons I never looked back. It is so simple to make and I want to spread the fresh clean laundry love to all of you.
Ingredients:
Fels Naptha Laundry Bar
Borax
Washing Soda
Water
5 gallon bucket
You can find all of these ingredients in the laundry isle at Walmart. Simply grate half of the bar into a saucepan.
Save the other half for your next batch. Add a couple cups of water and heat until the bar has melted and mixed into the water.
Pour 1/2 cup of borax and 1/2 cup of washing soda into the bucket.
Add the hot water and melted bar.
Mix until the powders have dissolved. Then you simply fill the rest of the bucket with hot water, stir it and let it cool.
Tada! How easy is that? Cheap, smells amazing and works like a charm. The laundry soap companies will hate me but oh well. Enjoy!
