The 2015 hunting season is literally just around the corner and for those of you who are interested, I thought I would share a little bit about what tags are burning holes in our pockets and what we are doing to prepare to share the success stories of the notching of those tags with you. Here in Montana there are a lot of different animals to hunt each season and we have to pick and choose what we are going to be headed after. This season blessed me with antelope doe, bull elk, mule deer buck and bear tags. My husband also has an antelope doe and bear tag but has a whitetail deer and cow elk tag in his arsenal as well. He is blessed to have added a whitetail deer and elk tag for the great state of Idaho to his pack also. Needless to say, with a little hard work we should have no trouble filling the freezer back up for the next year. We are planning a trip back to the Bannack high country where we filled our antelope buck tags last season. That hunt takes place in October. We will be hunting the elk up at the cabin with the Mountain Man as we did last year. Our deer tags are for near our home and the archery season opens in September followed by the rifle season in October so we will have some fun chasing the deer around the big sky country for a while. I have utilized my OnX Maps Hunt Chip and Garmin Basecamp in conjunction with Google Earth to find some Mule deer looking country in my area. I am going to make a hike in to a potential spring to check it out before the opener and hope to find a good spot to stake out come the first hints of morning light. Behind the scenes, my husband has been putting in some time developing a load for the new Ruger 270 rifles we will be toting along this year. They are topped with a couple of beautiful Vortex scopes, of course, in which I place full trust in to yet again amaze me. All in all it is shaping up to be a great season and I can’t wait to capture it and bring the adventure home with me so that I can turn around and share it with all of you. Thank you so much for tagging along and I hope you find exactly what you are looking for this season.
